Vintage Knobs – #WeekdayWreckers

One thing I’ve wanted to incorporate within O’Boy! Organic was more DIY. In my personal life I am a huge fan of upcycling and DIY projects. If you take a look at my home you will see a lot of consignment shop finds mixed in with the new.  One way I like to make a piece of old furniture look new again or a new piece look unique is by changing the hardware. I’ve either painted or totally replaced the hardware on almost all of my dressers and cabinets in my house. You can easily transform a piece for a fraction of the price of buying new.

This summer while on vacation, I found these knobs for my boys red dresser. I purchased the dresser at Ikea and the knobs were just plain Jane. When I saw these vintage water spigot knobs I knew I had to have them, they were perfect for the room, along with a new rug I found at a yard sale.

Besides shopping at consignment and vintage shops I love me some online shopping. Here are some of my favorite places online when looking for vintage knobs and hardware.

ETSY – These would be great for a accent cabinet in the kitchen or to use as hooks for a peg board

Weekday Wreckers Etsy Knobs

AMAZON – I love these knobs that I found through the Charleston Knob Company. There are so many to choose from and this one is similar to the ones I bought for my kids dresser.

Weekday Wreckers Plumber Knob

ANTHROPOLOGIE – I am not sure if I love Anthropologie’s clothes or home decor more, both are amazing. How fun is this pull knob which would be great for a white or even black dresser or cabinet.

When you are renting sometimes you are limited in what you can do in the space. With changing out the knobs you can easily put your mark on the room plus you can take them with you when you leave…just make sure you have the originals handy! LOL

Fun idea! I bet my 13 year old would prefer vintage knobs over the wooden ones on his antique dresser. Thanks! Added a green divas link!

You are keen to find the most creative knobs to dress up furniture. New ones can be a bit pricey, but if they’re made well, they will last. On our last home project, knob selection was one place I refused to compromise and I don’t regret it.

I agree, if you purchase good quality (of anything) it “should” last for years! Sometimes even painting the old ones can make a huge difference too.

That really is a great way to dress up an Ikea dresser, we just got my son an Ikea dresser and I might have to do this to his.
