Very Berry Smoothie

We have been crazy lately with spring sports. This past weekend we had 5 games in 3 days. On Sunday we left our house at 8:45am, came home for an hour, then we back at it again not getting home until 6:00pm. I know what you are thinking….she is crazy, trust me I say that to myself every weekend. The thing is, my boys love it! There is NEVER complaining and it keeps them active and not glued to the TV or video games.

With lots of early morning games it can be challenging to find the time for a healthy breakfast, come on this mama would like to sleep in once in awhile! I can’t say we haven’t been to Wawa a lot but, they do make a mean breakfast sandwich. We do try to keep a good stash of healthy granola bars, muffins, portable yogurt drinks and fruit that we can easily get on the road or in between games. Another great thing to make on those busy mornings are smoothies. You can pack them with all sorts of healthy ingredients. Some of my favorites include…….

Peanut Butter

Chocolate Protein Powder

Chia Seeds

Hemp Seeds

Flax Seeds

Knowing that we would be eating out at least once that day I wanted to make sure we all had a good start to the day, especially my youngest who was playing baseball at 9:00am. I recently was given a Hamilton Beach Single Serve Blender to try out, I’ve been dying to use it and Sunday was the perfect day.

Smoothies are easy to pull together most ingredients you already have on hand. Since I was making it for my son I used some of his favorite ingredients…berries and yogurt. Mixing in spinach is a no brainer since you can’t even taste it.

Very Berry Smoothie
Recipe type: Smoothie
Prep time:
Total time:
Serves: 1
  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries
  • ½ cup of your favorite yogurt
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup fresh spinach mix
  • Optional: 1 TB of either flax seed, chia seed or hemp seeds. You can even mix all three together. 1 banana could be added to make it extra creamy.
  1. Place all ingredients into the blender and blend until smooth. When using berries you might need to strain the smoothie is you don't like the seeds.
  2. ENJOY!

I love that you can make a single serving and just pull the canister off the blender and race out the door. You don’t need to dirty another glass because you drink from the canister after putting on the travel lid. It’s spill proof which is perfect for little ones. BONUS – It fit perfectly in the car cup holder. When storing you can easily wrap the cord around the base so if you are traveling it’s small enough to pack in your suitcase. I might just need to pack this baby for my Disney trip next week.
