One of the things that remind me of summer is S’mores. Who doesn’t love S’mores? We have a fire pit in our backyard and whenever we mention that we are having a fire the boys ask, “Are we having S’mores”? We also love to camp in the summer and I don’t know about you, but I need to pack S’mores every time.
There are many ways you can make S’mores. We love to hunt for sticks, and pile them up for everyone to use. Our favorite way is to sit by the fire pit and see who can make their marshmallow golden brown without setting it on fire.
Now if you aren’t into camping and don’t have a fire pit handy – don’t worry you can make S’mores in the oven which is a way you could make S’mores even in the winter months. Even though we don’t personally have a microwave, Heart Working Organizing shares how her microwave S ‘mores are great for taking to picnics. My friend at A Grand Life shares how they use their grill for making S’mores. Do you need a allergy friendly recipe? Check out this dairy free option from Chockababy.
This is my favorite because you are actually teaching the kids something, Say It Rahshay did a S’mores solar science experiment with kids. How cool is that?! Now if you want to get fancy you can make Inside Out S’mores that look AMAZING!
As you know we love to keep in real around the O’Boy! Organic home so if we can find marshmallows without high fructose corn syrup in them then we buy those. We also like to use non-gmo graham crackers and dark chocolate is the best!
Here are some healthier options for you to consider when purchasing ingredients to make S’mores. All of these are certified non-gmo and have ingredients in them that a child can pronounce.
