REAL FOOD Weekly Menu Plan 6.22.14

Real food Menu Plan logoNow that summer is in full swing I am trying hard not to use the oven so we can keep our house cooler. This week I am using my crock pot and grilling so the oven will not be needed. We are trying a few new things like having a fun Bake Potato Bar for our Meatless Monday dinner. The kids will have a blast picking out their toppings so it’s kind of like they are making their own dinner. When you have picky eaters it nice to give them some control as to what goes on their plate. Besides doing fun nights like the Potato Bar I also ask each member of the family what type of meal they would like that week, and it can’t be hot dogs or pizza. What are some fun ways you get your children involved in the dinner planning process?

Monday: Trying out a Bake Potato Bar which I think will be a fun meal for the kids to make their own decisions on what they eat instead of sitting down and seeing a plate of food that they may or may not like. I am also putting the potatoes in the crock pot to cook so I don’t heat the house by using the oven.

Tuesday: Crock Pot Chicken Curry

Wednesday: Honey Lime grilled chicken with leftover Asian Cole Slaw that I made on Sunday

Thursday: Grilled Burgers with homemade fries

Friday – Sunday: The boys and I are traveling to our friend’s lake house for a long weekend so hubby is home alone so he is on his own for dinners….I wonder if he will do take out every night or make dinner for himself?
