Fall is officially here and I am ready to embrace the cooler weather with getting back into crock pot meals, soups and stews. Not only are they comforting but easy to prepare which is perfect for weeknight meals. I feel like a broken record, but it is easy to make real food every night of the week without spending hours in the kitchen or breaking the bank account. I make at least 5-6 meals a week and spend about $150 a week. One of the ways I can keep the cost down when making healthy meals is by menu planning. I hope my weekly menu plans help you stay within budget and inspire you to make REAL FOOD dinners for your family.
REAL FOOD Weekly Menu Plan 9.22.14
Monday: Meatless Monday meal will be mushroom and barley soup with salad
Tuesday: Taco Tuesday using grass fed beef adding chopped kale and zucchini into the mixture for added nutrition. Trust me, the kids will not even notice!
Wednesday: I found this baked spinach and mushroom crock pot pasta recipe on Pinterest but want to change it up a bit by using Kale instead of spinach then adding a lb of grass fed beef for extra protein.
Thursday: One of my favorite nights of the week – LEFTOVER NIGHT. Don’t be afraid of having leftovers, it saves you money and you are not wasting the yummy food you previously made.
Friday: My son has been begging for Sloppy Joes with homemade fries – perfect start to the weekend.
Saturday: We are spending pretty much all day either at the soccer or baseball field so I wanted to start dinner before leaving that morning. Crock Pot Chicken Philly Cheesesteaks are on the menu.
Sunday: I recently purchased a grass fed organic roast and thought it would be perfect for a Sunday meal – Crock Pot Beef and Mushroom Pot Roast.
