Well hello there! It’s been awhile since I’ve posted a Monday menu plan and I have to say my household is feeling it. If you’ve been following my parenting journey throughout the years you know when spring sports start for us things get a little crazy, ok A LOT CRAZY! This year my youngest is on 2 baseball teams and my oldest 1 plus he still travels twice a week into the city for the Philadelphia Boys Choir……so planning meals can get a little challenging.
I know I’m not alone. I see it all the time as my friends are posting on facebook how their life is revolving around sports and their kids activities and for some reason this time of year it triples. It doesn’t change the fact that my family needs to eat and we can’t live on hot dogs and french fries from the ball field. So I’ve come up with a plan that will keep my family fed healthy meals throughout the week but also keep me sane too. I hope it works, fingers crossed! Please tell me….how do you keep up during these crazy sports schedules because every year I feel like I’m drowning?!
REAL FOOD Menu Plan for Busy Parents 4.24.17
Monday: We have a 6pm game and need to be at the field by 5:30. Grilled cheese and tomato soup are easy to prepare and quick to eat. Bonus it’s also a Meatless Monday meal!! I’m winning already.
Tuesday: We’ve got boys choir and batting practice so the kids will not be home at the same time. I’m making a big pot of homemade sauce and meatballs that I can put in the slow cooker so it makes things easier since everyone will eat at different times.
Wednesday: Mama has dinner plans so it’s our Leftover Night!
Thursday: We have another 6pm game so I need something easy. I looked in our freezer and noticed a potato leek soup stashed away and I also found french bread. So it’s a soup and salad kind of night!
Friday: This is the craziest day of our week. We have boys choir plus 2 games and I’m taking time out to get my hair done….so I think it’s a pizza night. I’m calling ahead to our local Whole Foods and ordering 2 pizzas. They make them fresh and all I need to do is pick them up and throw them in the oven. It’s a great deal at $24 for 2 and they are HUGE! Plus all ingredients used are fresh and organic…can’t beat that.
Saturday: The boys will be hanging downtown for the NFL draft so dinner is out.
Sunday: We have 1 game in the morning but then have the rest of the day at home. YAY! It’s suppose to be nice so we will grilled salmon and veggies.
