REAL FOOD Menu Plan 9.21.15

Last week was just a mess. We were away until Monday evening and the rest of the week just got away from me. So happy to have a few days off from teaching this week so I can play catch up and get myself organized. The weather is going to be PERFECT this week. I love those cool mornings and evenings and warm afternoons, if I could have it like this throughout the whole year I would. This week for my menu plan I went back to some of my old favorites that I knew the family will love and trying a few new things since I have more time on my hands because of no school.

REAL FOOD Menu Plan 9.21.15

Monday: Putting in a Moose roast in the crock pot, serving it with roasted asparagus and mashed potatoes. (yes, you read that right) A friend of ours gave us some moose meat so I thought I’d try it out. I’ll let you know how we like it.

Tuesday: When I don’t have much time this is my favorite meal to make. SO EASY, actually takes about 5 minutes to prepare. Salsa Chicken served with quiona and roasted corn. (Recipe coming soon)

Wednesday: With the extra moose roast I plan to make a Stroganoff and serving it with green beans from the garden.

Thursday: Making something new (wish me luck) Stuffed Cabbage Casserole with cabbage from the garden.

Friday: By far one the kids FAVORITE meal –> Sloppy Joes using venison meat and dicing zucchini from the garden to go into the mixture. This is a great way to get veggies into those picky eaters. Serving with fries.

Saturday: My husband found this recipe and shared it with me, so I have to make it. Chicken Pesto with Tomato and Mozzarella, using fresh tomatoes from the garden and I have high hopes that I will make my own pesto too. (we shall see)

Sunday: BBQ Pork with Cole Slaw for Sunday Football!

Turkey sloppy joes

So that’s my menu plan for this week…hope it’s inspired you to think outside the box when feeding your family. Just remember when you are feeling a bit overwhelmed with “life” a little organization goes a long way. Most of these meals can be prepared in less than 30 minutes and some can even be fully cooked within that time. Sloppy Joes are a hit at my house. I was pleasantly surprised to have so many of my kids like them.

I toss mushrooms, zucchini, onion, sometimes even carrots in the sloppy joe mix to add some extra texture and veggies. We also have been using venison meat instead beef which is really tasty.
