REAL FOOD Menu Plan 8.24.15

This is going to be one crazy week. My hubs will be traveling, I am starting back to work part time, I need to train for this 3 Day Walk and we need to fit in swim lessons. I want our dinners to be easier than normal since I am on my own and I know I will be a bit out of sorts with just getting back to teaching. I also struggle with what to fix while my hubby is away, how do you handle it? Do you keep the menu plan normal as if your spouse was there or do you tweak it a bit to make a more kid friendly? Well I am giving a few new meals a try and sticking with some favorites that I know my kids will love.

REAL FOOD Menu Plan 8.24.15

Monday: I need to start making big batches of pancakes, french toast and waffles for the mornings. School is starting soon for all of us and I need to have meals prepared ahead of time so I am not stressing in the morning. Tonight we are going to start that process off with a Breakfast for Dinner. Making a big batch of french toast served with bacon and fresh fruit.

Tuesday: Swim lessons! BBQ Chicken in the crock pot serving it with colesalw.

Wednesday: Homemade Chicken tenders with fresh veggies and fries for the kids and I will cut the chicken up and throw it in a salad for myself.

Thursday: Crock Pot Ravioli served with Ceaser Salad

Friday: We never did our camp out night so we are planning for it this week. Campfire dinner and smores is on the menu. I WILL make this happen!

Saturday: Hoping for a shore day, so we are winging it!

Sunday: The kids start school the next day, so we will have an early dinner and early bedtime! We all love Salmon so we will have Grilled Lemon Salmon and I thought I’d serve it with garden veggies and smashed potatoes.

So that’s my menu plan for this week…hope it’s inspired you to think outside the box when feeding your family. Just remember when you are feeling a bit overwhelmed with “life” a little organization goes a long way. Most of these meals can be prepared in less than 30 minutes and some can even be fully cooked within that time. Thanks for the inspiration! I definitely make my meals more kid friendly when the Hubby is traveling!

I usually save tacos and pancakes for the nights when my dh isn’t home.

I need to make some homemade bread for the french toast. DS11 claims my bread is best for that.

I need to get better at making homemade bread. I don’t make it enough and when I do it’s hit or miss. I need more practice.

The campfire dinner looks amazing! What a great idea! We have a charcoal grill and so we already have a good set-up for that.
