REAL FOOD Menu Plan 7.13.15

Another busy week ahead. The boys and I are getting ready to make our annual trip to Michigan so this week I am concentrating on cleaning out the fridge. I know my husband, he will not cook much so any fresh veggies and fruits need to be eaten up before we take off. Regardless of our weekly plans I always take inventory of what’s in the fridge, pantry and freezer before making a menu plan and heading to the grocery store. Why purchase new when you can use what you already have. It saves you a ton of money and you are not wasting food.

REAL FOOD Menu Plan 7.13.15

Monday: I am headed to dinner with some friends so the boys are enjoying leftovers from our weekend meals. Want to save money each week…have a leftover night. You use up food in your fridge and you don’t have to cook. It’s a WIN WIN for everyone! 

Tuesday: We still have some taco fixings in the fridge so we are going to use those plus some garden lettuce to make nachos 

Wednesday: Grilled fish with Couscous Couscous and fresh beans from the garden

Thursday: Sun dried Tomato Pasta with grilled Balsamic Chicken and Salad

The rest of the week we will be traveling. I did put some meals together that are in the freezer for my husband. Easy stuff that he can warm up on the stove or in the oven. Here are some of his favorites.

Naan Pizza

Pulled BBQ Chicken 

Sloppy Joes 

Chicken Parmesan 

Skirt Steak that he can throw on the grill and have with a salad

Italian Sausage in Red Sauce. He can make sandwiches or serve with pasta

So we will see if these foods are still in the freezer when we return. If so, no biggie because then I don’t have to go grocery shopping right away. Win for me! When you travel and hubby stays home, do you prepare meals ahead of time for him or just let him deal with it himself?

So that’s my menu plan for this week…hope it’s inspired you to think outside the box when feeding your family. Just remember when you are feeling a bit overwhelmed with “life” a little organization goes a long way. Most of these meals can be prepared in less than 30 minutes and some can even be fully cooked within that time.     Sausage and pepper naan pizza sounds really good. I really should freeze some meals for my husband when I’m away this week.

    Yum, looks great! Your Wednesday meal looks right up my alley. What kind of fish do you grill? We usually do salmon but I’d like to branch out a bit.

      We love Mahi on the grill and when we can find it Grouper but I only like it fresh.

    My 4 year-old daughter has recently fallen in love with tacos so I’m thinking of new ways to serve tacos. It’s become our go to weeknight meal.

    Taco Tuesdays the best! I have yet to try couscous, is it hard?

      Couscous is SO EASY! Just pour the directed amount of grain and water (or broth) in a pot let boil for 30 seconds, cover take off heat and let sit for 5 minutes and it’s DONE! I like to add garlic and Parmesan cheese to mine then top it with grilled veggies in the summer.

    This all looks delicious. Usually I don’t leave anything for my husband, but he is making an effort to eat better so I want to support that! Not sure if you do this, but I post our weekly menu on a chalkboard in the kitchen ( Now the kids know exactly what’s coming so there is no complaining:) I just wish I was a better cook. Your menu is sooo much better!
