REAL FOOD Menu Plan 4.27.14

Real food Menu Plan logo

Well my freezer is pretty bare since my clean out last week. If you missed last week’s post it was all about ways to save money while eating real food and clearing out your freezer was on my list. This week we are back on track with our REAL FOOD Menu Plan, with staying within my $150 a week budget. What is your weekly grocery budget? Also, do you count for toilet paper, pet food, household cleaners as part of that grocery bill or would that be considered extra? I personally always lumped it all together but I seems kind of odd to do that because there could be a month where you run out of everything and end of spending almost $100 of just household items.

healthy taco salad

Monday: I am actually really enjoying some of gluten free pasta I’ve been trying and the family hasn’t known the difference.  We are having a a meatless pasta with fresh roasted asparagus & mushroom  in a lemon wine sauce.

Tuesday: Ever since we did a Taco Tuesday night a few weeks back they have been begging for another one. This week I will use ground turkey or grass-fed beef. While the kids enjoy their tacos I am going to make a healthy taco salad.

Wednesday: One thing I still have left in the freezer is Chicken Chili so we are eating that up with some quinoa, fresh cilantro, greek yogurt and fresh grated cheese.

Thursday: My favorite night – Leftover Night – Please make one night of the week a leftover night. Saves you time and $$$

Friday: Homemade Pizza Night – Making a new one for the hubs and I created from Musings of A Housewife – Pesto and Goat Cheese. If you have never tried goat cheese on a pizza – you need to, so good!

Saturday: Burgers on the grill. Trying something a bit new – Stuffed burgers with feta and basil.

Sunday: Honey Lime Grilled Chicken served with with a Parmesan Risotto

I’d love to know what you are serving your family this week – share a favorite recipe so I can try it with my family in the upcoming weeks. If you need more menu planning inspiration check out some of my favorites –  Musings of a Housewife and Organizing Junkie.

Woohoo! A grilling recipe! I told Heather McCurdy I need to spend more time grilling this summer since I finally learned how to operate our grill last summer. I pinned your recipe to my new Grilling Recipes board.

We LOVE to grill. I find it funny that more women don’t know how to grill. I’ve been grilling since a teenager – mainly because of watching my dad every weekend. He would even put the grill under the patio and grill in the winter! LOL

I suppose it’s really bad that I have NO idea what my weekly budget is… ooops!

My husband has made he put groceries on a budget, but I think I’ve always been around $150 a week unless I need to purchase those non- food items which I personally don’t think it should be considered part of the weekly budget.

Have you ever had the Field Day Organic gluten-free pasta? My kids can’t get enough of it!

No, I will need to check it out. I’ve just gotten Barilla which we have been loving. I seriously can’t tell the difference.

Taco Tuesday has become a “thing” in our house too! We all love them, they are allergy friendly (or can be) and the are super easy to make after work! Yum!

I agree. Plus, the kids can put their own toppings on. We make it like a taco buffet which they love. I just make sure they put at least one type veggie on their taco.
