My friend Lauryn from The Vintage Mom introduced me to Heritage Farm that is located within the Methodist Home for Children in Philadelphia. Heritage Farm was started in 2011 and provides healthy, fresh and locally grown fruits and vegetables for families, children residents and the local community. I was most intrigued with their educational programs and how they offer hands on experiences in urban farming, career training and life skills development to the families they serve. Each season, Heritage farm brings home grown foods into the lives of children and families that would not otherwise be exposed to homegrown foods. I love that Heritage Farm is giving urban Philadelphia communities the opportunities of healthy eating, physical activity, community engagement and a connection to the natural world.
On October 2, 2014 the Heritage Farm presents the 2nd Annual Heritage Farm Fare. By raising funds it will help fulfill the farm’s mission to inspire healthy living and a connection to the natural world through local food production.
You will enjoy stunning city views from the Belmont Mansion lawn while sampling delicious bites made from local ingredients, prepared by a host of well-known Philadelphia area chefs from amazing restaurants located in Philadelphia and the Main Line.
So make this a date night or grab a few girlfriends for a night out of amazing food, cocktails and best of all you know the money you spent will be used to help children and families in need. You can purchase tickets for this event by visiting the Heritage Farm website and keep up to date with event details by following them on Facebook and Twitter.
