DIY Vintage TV Stands & Frames

Recently we finally got with the 21st Century and purchased our first flat screen TV. We never wanted to spend the money (even though they are so much less expensive than they used to be) but we decided to bite the bullet and just do it. We love our new TV but now we want something much smaller or different from what we had our old TV on.

Currently we have the TV in a huge armoire which we hate. At first I thought about redoing it but now I want to just get rid of it. We will  keep the armoire, and put shelves back in so we can place it in the boys playroom to store toys and games. I want something that fits our style and isn’t as big so it gives us more more in our living room. I’ve also given thought to hanging it on the wall and placing a frame around the TV.

I like the DIY option and restoring an old piece of furniture. You can purchase something inexpensively at a Consignment Shop, Thrift Store, Craigslist or pick up on Freecycle. Then bring the piece of furniture home and make it your own by painting it and placing new hardware on it. It’s so much less expensive than heading to a furniture store and getting something new.

Here are some of my favorites……

 DIY VINTAGE TV STANDS

I like the size of this vintage white dresser, and the window doors make it stand out. Just as long as I can
keep the items in there tidy.

I love the distressed look and this egg blue dresser & it would go well with my decor

I really love the multi colored look and the stained wood top from Indulgy. With the mix of paint and natural

wood makes it very appealing.
This TV stand is a great size, I love how narrow it is – perfect for a small space.

TV WALL FRAMES

I like the clean lines and rustic look of the wood TV frame. Not sure about it being away from the TV – what are your thoughts? It would be easier to put on the wall.

I just love that Remodelaholic used a old fence to make this frame. You could even paint if you didn’t like the “all natural” look.

Not sure if the detail of this frame is too much for my decor but this is another way of placing a frame directly around the TV. I also like having the shelf underneath.

So what do you think? What is your favorite? Should I go with the frame or stand? Decisions! Decisions!
