DIY Dry Skin Essential Oil Balm

Since beginning with essential oils I have been obsessed with making this balm. Originally I made it for a baby tips class because it helps with diaper rash but then I started using it myself and fell in love with it. I have extremely dry skin and in the winter my hands get so bad they bleed….yes! BLEED!

This balm can be made 2 ways. The solid paste form is good for lips or you can whip it up using a mixer which is great for body use. Each ingredient of this recipe works in a specific to help your skin.

YL Body and lip Balm

Beeswax – Provides a protective barrier against irritants while still allowing the skin to breathe.

Shea Butter – Contain vitamins A and E which repair and soothe irritated skin

Coconut Oil – Provides anti-fungal and antiviral properties

Lavender Essential Oil – is the most versatile of all essential oils. When thinking of lavender your first thought could be the calming effects that lavender brings. Lavender is also highly recommended for the skin. It can be used to cleanse cuts, bruises and skin irritations.

Lemon Essential Oil – It is good for increasing the luster of dull skin. Lemon oil is detoxifying in nature and rejuvenates sagging or tired looking skin. It also has antiseptic properties which can help in treating pimples and also helps with reducing excessive oil on the skin.

DIY Dry Skin Essential Oil Balm

Ingredients

2 Tablespoons Beeswax  – I use pellets

3 Tablespoons pure Shea Butter

3 Tablespoons extra virgin Coconut Oil

5 drops lavender essential oil

5 drops lemon essential oil

Directions

In a small saucepan melt the beeswax

Once beeswax is liquid then add the shea butter and coconut oil stirring until all the oils are incorporated.

Pour into a 4oz glass jar – canning jars work great and then add oils

If you want a creamier mixture put the oils into a bowl (add oils) and let cool then using a mixer whip it up.

This makes a PERFECT gift, just make larger batches. Looking for something else to go with the body balm? Check out these DIY Essential Oil gift ideas.
