This time of year we eat a lot of sandwiches. We have 2 boys each in 2 different sports so our evenings and weekends are filled with late practices and games. We have days that we are running from one field to another and gone for hours at a time. If I didn’t pack us food we would resort to eating concession stand foods, trust me we’ve been there but I don’t like it…not one bit. You can still keep your grab and go meals healthy by making good choices. Here are some of my favorite ways to keep it easy and healthy too.
HEALTHY BREAD – It’s always best to read the ingredient list, anything bread that has high fructose corn syrup put it back. Look for breads that have around 100 calories, 2g of fiber, 4g of sugar and 200mg of salt. If you want to keep it gluten free my favorite option is Rudi’s.
CHOOSE GOOD MEATS – This is huge, yes it cost a bit more but your body is worth it. Make sure the meats you choose are USDA Organic and free of fillers and additives. Meats that have less calories are turkey then chicken if you are looking to stay lean.
HEALTHY CHEESES – It’s important to remember to choose cheeses that are pure and made without fillers. Stay away from cheeses that have additives like whey, emulsifiers and preservatives.
ADD VEGGIES – You can make a veggie spread or top with some shredded veggies so it blends in more which makes it easier for those picky eaters.
One of my favorite meats and cheeses to use is Applegate because I know exactly what I am getting. There are no surprises and I can feel good about giving their products to my family.

I was given products and coupons from Applegate Farms as gift, to help promote #whatsinyoursandwich campaign. As always my options are my own.
