5 Ways Disney Makes It Easy For Families

If you’ve been keeping up with O’Boy! Organic you have been seeing many posts about our epic Disney trip that we took earlier this month. It was truly so magical. I would hear people say how “magical” Disney is but never fully grasped the idea until we actually went as a family. The last time I was at Disney there was only the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, boy a lot as changed.

So when we had the opportunity to take this family vacation through the Disney Social Media Conference we were over the moon, and a little overwhelmed too. Planning a Disney vacation can be a bit overwhelming until you figure out all the ways Disney can make the planning process and vacation stress free, so you and the family can just ENJOY your experience. There are so many ways Disney made this a magical experience for our family but I wanted to share my top 5 ways Disney makes it easy for families, especially ours since we were such newbies.

Disney 5 ways they make it easy for families

5 Ways Disney Makes It Easy For Families

My Disney Experience App – I think I would of been lost if I didn’t download the My Disney Experience app. You can access the site online from your computer or through the app that works with iphones or androids. This keeps everything in one place. You can easily explore the Disney map so you know where everything is. Get wait times for attractions and showtimes for fireworks and parades. Purchase theme park tickets on the go. Find all the Character greeting locations and times. Search for the perfect restaurant and make reservations. I could manage everything from the app – resort reservations, tickets and those lovely magic bands. Need to schedule FastPasses? No problem, you can do it from the app too. Best of all, you are able to keep all my reservations and activities organized and I could share all this information with my husband so we were on the same page.

Magical Express – From the time we got off the plane we felt special and so well taken care of. Before the trip we scheduled the Magical Express so you don’t have to worry about getting your own bags, they do it for you. Yep, no lugging bags all over the airport and dragging them in our room. Disney did that for us. A few weeks before the trip we received tags that we had to put on our luggage. Then magically they appeared in our hotel room a few hours after we arrived. We got on the magical express which took us to our hotel. I made sure to pack our suits so we could hang in the pool and relax for a few hours before heading into the park. Since we arrived in Orlando at 8:00am we had a full day to enjoy the hotel and parks.

Magic Bands – These were amazing! When staying at a Disney resort you receive magic bands for the entire family. These bands are attached to your reservation so they work as  room key, park pass and you can even put a credit card on file so you can pay for food, gifts etc.. all with your band. When you are in the park it works as your FastPass for rides and all photos are linked to the band as well. It was a lifesaver and truly magical!

Disney Memory Maker – Again, Disney knows how to make it easy for families. When you have a Memory Maker all you need to do is find a Disney Photographer throughout the Disney parks to take your picture at one of the many amazing locations. Then have the photographer scan that crazy little magic band and guess what…all those photos are magically yours forever through your Disney Experience App. They even catch you screaming down Splash Mountain. I loved that I could just relax and not worry about getting all the pictures myself because a professional could do it for me.

Disney Hotel Customer Service – First, I could write a whole post on this, which I think I will later on. I will share with you just a few of our highlights of the hotels. Customer service was amazing. When we arrived at All Star Sports for the first night our Disney app wasn’t working and some of our tickets were showing up online but not on the app which affected the bands. Thankfully we were spending time at the pool for a few hours before heading to the park. Within an hour our tickets were all in the app, luggage in our hotel room and we were chillin by the pool. The next day we wanted to do the Jedi Training and we had to get up and out by 8am but didn’t want to head back to the hotel to check out. No problem, we were able to leave our luggage and food and cold items were stored in a fridge. When the time came they took care of transferring everything over to the Yacht Club. Later on in the afternoon when we wanted to check into our new hotel luggage and food was there to greet us. Again…Disney made it SO EASY! I never met one unhappy “cast member” the whole time. Everyone was so helpful and just plain happy, it was pretty amazing!

Got any helpful tips that you’d like to share? We would love to hear them so it will help make our second Disney trip even more successful than the first.

We haven’t taken the kids to Disney yet. I have to admit that I’m a bit intimidated, especially when I hear about people planning out everything, including the time of their rides and meals. This is good to know!

Marci we felt the same way and made sure we took advantage of the pool and had downtime just to enjoy the nice weather and being together as a family. I think waiting until the boys were a bit older really helped a lot since they didn’t get “too worn out” 🙂

We’ll be going in August! I used to work at Disney, so I don’t need the map, but the app with the wait times listed sounds like a great thing to add to my phone before our trip! Definitely need to build in time for the pool, too, since we’re going at the peak of summer!

I had no idea they had all these great services! We usually stay outside the park, but this is definitely changing my tune. Great tips, Trina!
